Barcelona travel diary, part two

Saturday, 6 May 2017

When I woke up on the third day in Barcelona, the rain had finally stopped ticking on the roof of our apartment. I opened the curtains and saw some blue in the sky for the first time since we'd arrived. I couldn't wait to get dressed and finally see the city with its true beauty, covered in warm sunlight.
--------------------------------

We started the day off by walking to the beach. It was so nice to be able to walk around without an umbrella and to be able to actually take pictures without risking my camera's life.
The area around the beach felt completely different from the city centre. People were jogging everywhere and even doing yoga on the beach. I really enjoyed the nice atmosphere there.
From the beach we walked to the Parc de la Ciutadella. This is one of the most popular city parks in Barcelona. You can rent little boats, look at the impressive statues and relax around the big waterfall. I really enjoyed the creative vibe in the park. People were sketching, painting, playing on their guitars... I could have spent the entire day here with a notebook and a pen.
In the afternoon we had a private 3-hour guided bike tour. Our Dutch guide showed us all around the city and told some amazing background stories. I would highly recommend doing a bike tour when you're in Barcelona (or in any other city really). It's a great way to discover a city and see a lot without getting blisters on your feet from walking. We did our tour with green bikes.
It's unbelievable what difference the weather can make to a city. This is what Barcelona is supposed to be like. Street musicians and artists, lots of creative minds, beautiful architecture and a chilled vibe. I already liked this city on the first two days, but absolutely fell in love on the third day.
We finished off our trip with tapas (unfortunately I had a cold and couldn't taste anything) and then it was time to go home.

Hope to see you soon, Barcelona!
Hope you enjoyed my little Barcelona travel diary. Don’t forget to check out part one if you haven’t already.
